This floorboards job in Clapham required a bit more prep than average. There were gaps that needed filling and a couple of boards to deal with before sanding could start. Once the prep was done, the sanding went through fine and the finished result was clean and even.
Every floor is different. In Clapham, where properties are mostly Victorian and Edwardian terrace houses, conversion flats, and some Georgian properties, we regularly find floors that have been sanded before, sometimes badly, with score marks from old belt sanders or uneven areas. We assess the floor carefully before starting and adjust our approach to what is in front of us.
The process for a typical job is: secure loose boards, fill gaps, sand through the grits in sequence, check by hand, and apply finish in coats. We do not rush any of those stages. The preparation makes the difference between a floor that looks good for two years and one that holds up for fifteen.
We take on floor sanding jobs throughout Clapham and nearby areas.
